This year I attend the Vancouver / Eastside Culture Crawl which in the past has been a miss. To my surprise the function has largely expanded and features some uniquely memorable and talented artist. It has been years since my last visit to 1000 Parker Street and some of the surrounding studios. I had forgotten what a time capsule the structure is and found myself lost in it’s inner / outer charm. The building itself seems to take on a life of it’s own with the artist in residence as part of the backdrop. It’s huge old growth beams, loading bays, winding corridors, exposed plumbing, and warehouse elevator bring the past into the present. My family and I spent a good amount of time out back where the railroad tracks and exterior graffiti meet.
